This webinar will present the children, parents, and teachers of a very special school. Our purpose is to support the school as it struggles to survive and keep a tight hold on a precious educational program that includes Palestinian Culture.

Guiding the event will be artist Samia Halaby on behalf of three SPONSORS: The Palestine Museum US will host the event; Embrace the Children of Palestine, Inc. will aid in presentation and fundraising; while, RAWDAT EL-ZUHUR will open their doors and hearts and allow us to see the school through the eyes of the children.

Three Children will lead us through their classrooms after school hours. They will be accompanied by parents who will tell us their view of the educational program at the school and the benefits to their children. The teachers will guide us in understanding their needs.

About Rawdat El-Zuhur
Rawdat El-Zuhur came into being in 1952 when Elizabeth Nasir, a rare and beloved personality, creatively reacted to seeing children begging. At first the school provided safe shelter and taught skills. In the wake of the Israeli occupation in 1967, Israel began controlling education and erasing Palestine in their syllabus. In reaction to the challenge, Rawdat El-Zuhur began to expand to an elementary school focusing on the formative years of children while maintaining its enlightened educational program. In essence, for Rawdat El-Zuhur to continue to excel in Jerusalem means rejecting Israeli funding and relying on international support from the exile community and friends of Palestine. For more information please click on the school’s website.
